In 2004, President and Owner, Ms. Jan Brimmeier, AIA, NCARB, founded Architectural Innovations, LLC. She wanted to create a design firm that puts clients and their needs first, follows a defined process to ensure success, and “Brings Art Back to Architecture.” With two baccalaureate degrees, several art scholarships, including the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts and foreign studies — Jan was well-poised to rise in the Pittsburgh-area architecture scene over the last three decades, managing several firms before starting Architectural Innovations.
Today, Architectural Innovations consistently delivers quality, confidence, and satisfaction across a broad spectrum of project types. Employed by several other firms prior to 2004, Jan knew what worked and what didn’t, and understood what was needed to accomplish her goals...the right combination of talented, experienced, and enthusiastic service-minded team members collaborating in a supportive and innovative environment. She received recognition as a Top 25 Women in Business in 2010, as well as a Diamond Award for Pittsburgh’s Top 12 CEO's.
From pre-design to post construction, AI’s multi-discipline approach enables our clients to rely on “one source” for many services throughout the entire architectural design process. Our projects consist of new construction, renovations, and additions, and are designed with features and systems that protect our environment. Architectural Innovations is committed to sustainability and energy-efficient design solutions, including utilizing sustainable material. Several of their projects are LEED Certified, with others that meet ‘green’ building design standards.
Architectural Innovations’ record of success includes over 890 projects ranging in cost from less than $100,000 to more than $150,000,000 – all of which were completed on time and on budget with change orders due to errors and omissions never amounting to more than 0.25%, which is well below the 3% - 4% industry standard.
Today, Architectural Innovations, a certified Small and Woman Business Enterprise (SBE/WBE), offers architecture, planning, interior design, and consulting services for governmental, municipal, healthcare, educational, sports, retail, commercial, religious, single-family residential and multi-unit housing clients domestically and internationally.
AI has received numerous accolades within the Pittsburgh region over the past decade, including Best Places to Work for eight consecutive years since 2009, and the Fastest Growing Business from 2009 through 2012. Architectural Innovations is the largest woman-owned architectural firm headquartered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
